Adventures in Makaton
Adventure clubs are places where all ages come together to learn from each other there is no one person teaching.
The idea is to bring together people of all ages to share the fun - frustrations and excitement of learning and experiencing new adventures, Adventures in Makaton will be a community where with the help of everyone Makaton will be learnt - practiced and used.
There will be no formal teacher- student arrangement but rather a cooperative social supportive group who learn and share the skill with each other and by meeting on a regular basis practice learnt and new words/signs.
By starting in this Way funding will not be a preventive obstacle, more than one club can be formed quickly and easily who in turn could network with other Adventure clubs, clubs would be open to a community as a whole (main criteria young people/children attend with Carers/parents/grandparents family friends)
Once established we can look at funding opportunities to develop the club and build its resources.
How will we learn Makaton?
As an Adventure club it will source its own ways of learning ( you tube has a wealth of tutorials). With funding the club could decide to engage a trainer to help them.? They could attract a member who is trained and willing to socialise with the group.
Importantly every meeting will be an Adventure as we learn a new language together.
